The Hollywood Hombres

All rhythm and all groove, the Hollywood Hombres expertly combine the elements of Swing, Blues and Boogie-Woogie to create the most infectious beat this side of Louis Jordan.
Formed by a nucleus of Sydney’s premier roots musicians – vocalist and composer Wes Pudsey, guitarist Robert Taylor, bassist Dean Upston and drummer Bruce Dunlop – the six-piece group has been wowing audiences all over the Harbour City with its dynamic stage performances and exciting sounds. Helping to create the unique Hombres style are wild saxophonist Martin Davison and Boogie-Woogie maestro Aaron Towerton, both experienced performers whose carefully-honed skills serve the band in creating a music and style that is new and exhilarating, without sacrificing the feel and energy so integral to authentic Rhythm and Blues.
Adding a further element to this heady mix is swingin’ chanteuse Miss Pia Andersen, who tempers the Hombres’ Wynonie Harris and T-Bone Walker influence with the hipster stylings of Etta James and Ella Mae Morse. Such a stable of young talent ensures that the Hollywood Hombres are one of the most versatile combos in the business, equally at home playing laid-back Swing for the corporate market, keeping the dance floor busy with hot rhythms, or beating out vibrant proto-rock and boogie at an inner city live music venue.

The Hollywood Hombres: Jumpin’ Blues and cool Swing for a new millennium!

The Rechords

Hillbilly Boogie, Western Swing, Bluegrass, Rhythm & Blues, Rock-a-billy…..it’s all there… it’s all apart of what has become THE RECHORDS. Throw in lead vocals from all of the members at some point during the sets and spice it up with a mix of sweet 2 part and sometimes 3 part harmonies reminiscent of those Bluegrass and Hillbilly bands of days gone by……then delivered with the passion and enthusiasm of a 60’s Garage / Swamp Rock band. Sometimes laid back and feeling like your riding the range in an old Western, then other times wild and crazy like you’re in some adrenilin induced 50’s Juke Joint.
But don’t think this is just some Retro showband trying to revive the past….no siree…..it’s about capturing the essence and the soul of the music and the performers from the 30′s through to the 60′s. Using this to inspire our own tunes and the way we perform them, it was a wholesome and less complicated moment in time and the performances were raw and heart-felt, fun and simple enough for all to enjoy. It’s surprising just find out who digs the music, it has a wider appeal than we had ever thought.
